Our Thanksgiving Club Meeting

Sorry for the delay in updating this blog to all of you who've been anxiously waiting to see our last meeting. Our November club meeting was a success! All who showed up were glad they did! There were fourteen of us altogether.
It was perfect knitting weather! A cool rainy day, which hasn't been very common this year in sunny California. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving layout! Our main course was created by chef Kim Cook. She made a cream of turkey soup which she served on top of fluffy herbed stuffing with a dollop of cranberry sauce. Some brought desserts to share. We had cranberry orange muffins, pumpkin raisin nut bread, pumpkin squares with a spice cake crumble topping and whip cream, and an assortment of cookies. And I am so grateful Tracy brought a vegetable tray to snack on so I could feel better about eating so much sugar. So here's some things that happened at the meeting:

Amanda won the drawling for the knitting carry-along kit!
Juliette finished her hat! Can't wait to see it felted!
Lisa is knitting!!
Cheyenne has grown soo tall!
Little Sarah is knitting a hat.
Sarah T. finally finished her 3 year long scarf project!
Kim K. started a new scarf.
Mariana brought her finished knitted bunny. (You can see her holding it in the picture.)
My mom started some knitted arm warmers.
Rose is starting a new crochet doll.
And Monica started some fingerless gloves and finished them!

I am so glad everyone had a good time! There are more pictures that I will post once I get them from Amanda. Now, mark your calendars for our Christmas Party club meeting on December 18th. I am going to post more details about it soon. I love all you guys and I hope to see you at the next club meeting!

A Very Special Thanksgiving at The Natty Knit Club!

November 20th is the next scheduled Natty Knit Club date. We are gathering together to have a Thanksgiving themed lunch prepared by our very own chef, Kim Cook! I am also going to make my famous pumpkin squares! If you have a dessert, drink, or anything special to share please do so (the more food we have the merrier it will be!). We are also having a raffle for a knitting carry-along kit! If you show up between 10 am - 11 am you will get a ticket. If you bring a friend in between those times, you and your friend get two tickets to enter in! RSVP down below on the comment icon and join us for a fun time of knitting, eating and being thankful for friends!

The Natty Knit Club's first meeting!

October 16th was our very first Natty Knit Club meeting! There were 8 of us all together. We had coffee, tea and a spread of goodies that included freshly baked sugar cookies, Louisiana crunch cake, hot cheesy green pepper corn bread muffins, and vegetables with dip. We had a wonderful time knitting and enjoying each others company. Here are some pictures of who showed up:

This is me, Natty. I love knitting and crocheting, sharing and listening to stories with a hot cup of coffee or tea by my side (along with delicious desserts on hand of course!), and bouncing to fun, relaxing music. There is nothing more fun, or comforting to me than to share time with friends and being constructive creatively at the same time. That's why I started this club!

This is Kim C. We came to know each other through Bible study and she has become a very good friend of mine. She loves to knit and is currently working on a baby blanket for her soon to be niece. She is a chef! And if you come to our next club meeting you will get to enjoy a Thanksgiving themed lunch prepared by Miss Cook!

This is Kim K. We met through the orthodontist office I work at. We found out that we had knitting in common and she has joined our group. She is a very lovely lady and she is already becoming a good friend. She learned how to yarn over at our last club meeting and is now working on a sparkly red lace scarf for a friend of hers.

This is my mama, Alicia. She is the best mom in the world. She is supportive in everything I decide to do and backs me up 100% in prayer. She loves tennis and working out. She doesn't let anything stop her from doing what she wants to do. She's amazing! She is currently working on some black knitted Mary Jane's for my 16 month old niece.

This is Ruthie, my beautiful mother in law. Ruthie is such a comforter, and a loving encourager. She will always make sure you have food to eat, something to drink, and a blanket to keep you warm. She doesn't knit, and has no desire to learn. But she enjoys spending time chatting and being part of the club anyway.

This is Tracy. Tracy has overcome a lot in her life and has become one of the boldest, most courageous women of God I know. She learned how to knit about a year or more ago but didn't continue with it. So she decided to relearn on this day and she picked it up like picking up riding a bike again.

This is Thea. Who wouldn't let me take a picture of her! Maybe she'll let me take a picture of her next time so you can see how really pretty she is. She has the same admirable characteristics as my mother in law. She will do or say whatever it takes to make you feel special. She is currently knitting a few unfinished projects that she will finish even if it takes her 3-4 years to do so.

Amanda, who wouldn't let me take a picture of her either, helped me out tremendously in putting this meeting together. I want to acknowledge her and thank her for all her help. She is one of those friends who will do anything to help you out. She is just as passionate about knitting as I am. And is currently working on multiple projects just like me.

I hope you are excited and encouraged to come to our next club meeting which will be November 20th. I am looking forward to seeing you there!
